PM Modi reached Manipur after two years, launched schemes worth Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur

PM Modi reached Manipur

Modi in Manipur:  After a long gap of two years and ethnic violence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur on Saturday and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth more than ₹ 7,300 crore in Churachandpur. This visit was not only important from the political and developmental point of view, but also brought a message of humanity and social harmony. In this visit, Prime Minister Modi announced comprehensive projects in areas like urban development, education, health, road and digital connectivity. Along with this, he met the families affected by the ethnic violence of 2023 and assured them that the central government stands firmly with them.

A new chapter of development in Manipur

The biggest project among the projects for which the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister was the Manipur Urban Road, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project, costing Rs 3,647 crore. This scheme is an important step towards modernizing the infrastructure of urban areas. Apart from this, Manipur Infotech Development Project (MIND) costing Rs 550 crore was also announced which will realize the vision of Digital Manipur.

Special emphasis on education and health

To promote women empowerment and education in the state, nine working women hostels will be constructed at a cost of ₹142 crore. At the same time, super-specialty health facilities worth ₹105 crore will also be established. This will strengthen health services in rural and remote areas.

Expansion of National Highways and Connectivity

Prime Minister Modi announced the upgradation of five national highway sections at a cost of over ₹2,500 crore. Along with this, NH-102A in Tengnoupal will also be upgraded at a cost of ₹502 crore, which will increase the strategic and commercial potential of the state.

Attention to sports, culture and tourism

A multi-purpose indoor stadium will be constructed at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal at a cost of ₹36 crore. At the same time, the polo ground and its surrounding area will be developed at a cost of ₹30 crore, which will promote the cultural identity and tourism of the state.

Meeting with affected families

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi also met the families who were affected by the ethnic violence of 2023. More than 260 people were killed and more than 60,000 people were rendered homeless in this violence. He communicated directly with the people and assured them that development and peace are the future of the state. The violence was mainly triggered by the Meitei community demanding Scheduled Tribe status and the Kuki community opposing it. The Kuki community had raised the issue of social and land inequality while demanding a separate administration.

Manipur, the land of 'courage and determination' 

Addressing the public meeting, the Prime Minister said that Manipur is a land of 'courage and determination'. This vibrancy of the Northeast is a symbol of India's collective strength. He met the people of the state and assured them that the central government is fully committed to the inclusive development and lasting peace of Manipur.
